Diggy Simmons and Trevor Jackson are both rising stars in the music industry. Diggy Simmons is the 19 year old son of legend Rev Run, and you also may know him from the hit television show "Runs House". Well he's not that little boy anymore, he's all grown up and has a new song caledl "My Girl" featuring Trevor Jackson. Trevor Jackson is a 17 year old actor, singer and dancer. Some may know him from the Disney Channel movie "Let it Shine". But now he has a new song out called "Me Likey" that's a up beat feel good record. These two are on tour together "Who Else But Us", and they are making sure to stop in as many states as possible to show love to their supports and fans.
On Sunday Aug 17, 2014 Diggy Simmons and Trevor Jackson made a quick stop in Jackson MS while on their "Who Else But Us" tour. This "Back to School Bash" ( A Family Day in the Park) event was held at Parham Bridges Park at 11am-2pm. They joined their fans to take pictures and sign autographs and, Diggy along with Trevor performed his popular song "My Girl".
This event was hosted by Jackson MS's, very own 97.7fm The Beat of The Capital. As part of the event 97.7fm hosted a free school supplies drive. Parents and children stood in line to pick up their free school supplies just in time for school to start. This free supplies helped to benefit "Better Schools Better Jobs" campign. Adults and young adults were encrouaged to sign a petition provided by "Better Schools Better Job" to help receive better education in JPS (Jackson Public Schools). Health screening were also provided courtesy of Quinn Healthcare located in Jackson Miss.
There was plenty of free food being served. 97.7fm served hot dogs, chicken, baked beans and more. There was also an ice cream truck where you could select from many different flavors. Children definitely enjoyed themselves by playing on jumpers that were provided and on the playground at the park.
97.7 also held a "Nae Nae" dance contest for children ages 5-10. There were about 15 young participants in the contest. The winner received cash as a prize. The "Nae Nae" is a popular dance that has recently taken over as the new dance crave.
