Today, Sunday, August 3, 2014. I attended my home church in Columbus, MS. As always the night before I prayed for a word from the Lord. I asked God a couple of questions I wanted him to make clear for me. Because, lately I have been going through things, I have no control over. Things from my past that try to discourage me. And, I pay no attention because I'm looking forward to my future. All negative things, I have asked God to remove from my life. Such as fake friends, negative people and situations, etc.
The sermon talked about "My Future Being Brighter Than My Past". This hit right at home for me, because right now at this very moment, I feel I am doing things that will keep me a few steps ahead and closer to a brighter future. School, work, and trying to plan out my future, can be a bit stressful. But, I want God to steer me in the right direction. I have noticed that once I get really happy, and began doing really well. Negative seems to find its way into my life.
"Anytime you began to do something for God expect opposition."
This made so much sense to me. Because, it brings me back to the sermon I heard on my birthday last Sunday. "Is my passion for the Lord?". So, since I am 110 percent dedicated to the assignment God’s chosen for me, there is going to be negativity. It would only be right to have obstacles in the midst of my success. But, God has raised me up for my assignment and it's my job to stay focused and complete it. I don't think of it as being strange anymore. When enemies try to derail my assignment, I stay focused.
We as people can be so rude and cruel sometimes. When we see others doing well, we find ourselves becoming a little jealous. We wish we had what they have. Or, began to talk negative about them, instead of helping them. Helping someone complete their assignment is a blessing, and by doing so you will receive a blessing in return. We often remember the negative things in our past and find it hard to move on with the future. But, anytime you continue to dwell on the past, you are hindering yourself from making progress. It's okay to remember but we shouldn't live in the past.
John 4:4 states, "Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world"
I can't stop doing what I'm doing, because I have a great work that is for God. The bible takes about peace and safety. When we find ourselves feeling peaceful and safe, we should get prepared for distractions. Because, it doesn't matter what you do. There are always people out here that have made up their mind not to like it. Everyone is not going to like what you are doing. You have to make up your mind to stay focused on God. God has made a promised to you, and unlike those fake friends or enemies in your life, he will keep his promise. He is a promise keeping God.
"God will never leave you nor forsake you, he will be with you even until the end of the earth."
There are some people who don't want you to finish what's on your agenda. But, as long as God is on your side it doesn't matter. PRESS toward the mark of the high calling of God. One day, I want my words to touch people in positive ways. I want to become a mentor through my writing. Others should feel encouraged through my words.
So, I just want to say, if you are working on your assignment stay focused, and don't let the past hinder your future. Because, you have full control over your future and no control over past. Whenever you are working on your assignment give a full 100 percent, because it is your passion and assignment from God. He will always raise a leader to carry out his mission, and it will be clear to everyone that it was him who put you in that position.
Maybe you are thinking that you've been working on your assignment and you've found your passion. But, you feel stuck, like your progress is at a stand still. Just remember that delayed doesn't mean denied. God is always on time!
You + God= Majority
