- Shop on your "free day"....Go in ready to stay at least 2 hours or less. ( 10 min per rack)
- Before going into a thrift shop check online to see what ratings and comments have been made.
- Call Ahead!!: Check to see if the thrift store has a discount on certain days. I know at some Salvation Army's they have half off on Wednesday's.
- Shop in a thrift store that is in a "nice" area of town... In my opinion most good thrift finds are in a area that's well put together, and usually less picked over.
- Shop Alone!.... Most of the time if you shop by yourself it's easier to find items. I personally like to thrift alone, because it gives you more time to think about what you are purchasing. But, I do feel it's okay to shop with someone who loves thrifting just as much as you do. Because then you can get opinions before you make your purchase.
- Make sure to look through EVERY section Men, Women, Children etc. You will be surprised what you'll find in a section that's not suppose to there. For example: I found a nice dress in the men section the other day.
- Step outside your Comfort Zone!... Most of the time what you find at the thrift store will be different and unique. You probably won't be used to seeing anything like it. But, most of the time it is a great find., Vintage is always better.
- Try your clothes on!.... If you're not afraid of trying own clothes at the thrift store, then go ahead!!.. My Tip is try the item on over your clothes, if you can. So dress comfortably!
- Wash your clothes!.... Remember the clothes you are buying have been worn before, so sanitize them as soon as possible.
